VIDEO: Krewe of Mona Lisa and Moon Pie parades in Slidell

Dear Mona Lisas and Moon Pies,

My Music Makers will bring the gift of song to the streets at the 2010 parade Mona's Music Makers. Already, my followers have begun to claim their theme songs such as "Truckin'" "The Chain of Fools" "Band on the Run" "Doggy in the Window" "Mama Mia" "Flight of the Bumble Bees" and more.

Let them eat cake when we kick off the Mardi Gras season with the Kings and Queens Party on Kings Day, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 6 to 9 p.m. at Palmettos on the Bayou, 1901 Bayou Lane.

RedFishBlue Band will play, along with many of my kings and queens of old. They will be joined by the award winning songwriter, 2010 King MoonPie Greg Barnhill and 2010 Queen Mona Lisa Debbie Lefort, Talented Art Program coordinator for St. Tammany.

Grand Marshall Margaret Orr, CH6 TV weatherwoman, predicts good weather for the parade on Friday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. in Olde Towne Slidell.

Bring your friends, bring your family to take part in one of Slidell's most popular Mardi Gras traditions.

My Royal Artist Michael Reed had captured the spirit of the parade with a drawing that depicts me leading the parade. I've been framed, but I know it is all in fun. The posters and t-shirt are ready to order. The wonderful artwork submitted for the contest keeps the smile on my face.
